Qualification and Experience: Dr M Abdul Vaseem after completing medical degree with MBBS, did postgraduate Diploma in Internal Medicine at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College London and later did basic physician training in Australia and subsequently advanced training in rehabilitation medicine leading to fellowship of the faculty of rehabilitation medicine RACP in 2016. He was a staff specialist at Hampstead Rehabilitation Hospital of the Royal Adelaide Hospital and served as director of rehabilitation unit Cairns Base Hospital in 2018. He was also VMO to Manning Base Hospital and Wingham Hospital NSW Health, Port Macquarie Private Hospital and Baringa Private Hospital of the Ramsay Health. He is proud to have been associated with Coffs Harbour orthopaedic specialist team for in-patient rehabilitation and in their specialist clinic.

He is AFRM-RACP accredited rehabilitation trainee long case assessor and has supervised advanced trainees in rehabilitation and geriatric medicine. He has special interest in teaching nursing staff, allied health and medical students and has provided regular case presentations and literature reviews. He leads a highly motivated team and ensures evidence-based care of high quality is delivered by the multidisciplinary team with a holistic and patient-centred approach.

Specialist Services: Dr Vaseem has extensive experience in orthopaedic surgery of the shoulder, knee, hip, foot, cardiovascular procedures, neurological disorders including stroke, spinal injury, neurosurgical procedures, spinal surgery of the cervical and lumbar spine and scoliosis surgery, musculoskeletal disorders, cardio-pulmonary conditions (heart failure, pacemaker insertion, post CABG, COAD), postsurgical reconditioning, diagnosis and management of conditions causing/contributing to falls, diagnosis and management of pain syndromes, diagnosis and management of cognitive disorders. He also provides assessment for diagnosis and management for patients with stroke, MS, TBI who have bowel and bladder dysfunction, spasticity, pain and cognitive issues. He was successful in management of patients after complex orthopaedic surgeries and management of wound related to polytrauma, motor vehicle accident and work-related injuries. He is in receipt of excellent feedback recently from cardiologist for investigating a couple of patients with previously undiagnosed severe coronary artery disease who required pacemaker and stenting.
