Anxiety

Applied CBT for Mood and Anxiety Disorders

This program helps you to understand and change unhelpful thinking that may be negatively affecting your day-to-day life. CBT deals with the ‘here and now’ - how your current thoughts and behaviour affects you, now and how to change patterns to function better in the future.

Exercise for Mental Health

This program provides insight into the basics of a healthy lifestyle and how physical health can positively impact overall wellbeing. You will discuss nutrition, diet, exercise, balanced lifestyle, motivation, goal setting and mindfulness.

Focused CBT for Wellbeing

This program provides a supportive and ongoing group therapy that reinforces CBT skills practice, including the revision of program skills and the introduction of new topics.

Maintaining Wellness

This program uses an open discussion based forum, and each topic uses a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approaches. The aim is for you to achieve wellness and cope with your mental health issues. Goal setting allows you to practice skills from the session and provide feedback the following week.

Depression

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

This Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) program helps you to understand and change unhelpful thinking that may be negatively affecting your day-to-day life. CBT deals with the ‘here and now’ - how your current thoughts and behaviour affects you, now.

PTSD

Trauma Recovery for Veterans with PTSD

This program is useful for people who have experienced traumatic events which may include, sexual assault, domestic violence, bullying, vehicle accidents, war combat, witnessing a traumatic event or events that threaten and/or overwhelm them. It allows you to increase your capacity to understand the impact of trauma, and manage symptoms which affect your life more effectively.

Older Persons

Young @ Heart

Run by a multidisciplinary treatment team, this program aims to help mature aged patients who want to stay mentally and physically healthy, and their quality of life while engaging with groups and services in the community. It combines evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other strength-based therapies.

Rehabilitation Programs

Falls Prevention 

“Looking after your joints and bones” Day Program

For people living with arthritis and/or osteoporosis and/or have been falling over or at increased risk of falling over

  • For people living with arthritis and/or osteoporosis and/or have been falling over or at increased risk of falling over
  • 1 hour of hydrotherapy with a senior exercise physiologist
  • 1 hour of gym based exercise with a senior exercise physiologist
  • 1 hour of Education with a senior OT including (but not limited to); how to reduce your risk of falling over?  Is your house “falls proof?”, Nutrition and osteoporosis, pain management, pacing, what is Osteoarthritis?  what is Osteoporosis?
  • You can do all 3 hours of just 1!
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays 1pm -4pm
  • Available to health fund members. Self-funded options also available

Orthopaedics 

Day program structure

  • For people recovering from fractures or post joint replacement
  • 1 hour of hydrotherapy with a senior exercise physiologist
  • 1 hour of gym based exercise with a senior exercise physiologist
  • 1 hour of Education with a senior OT including (but not limited to) ; returning to work, returning to driving, how to look after your joints, how to reduce your risk of falling over, pain management
  • You can do all 3hours or just 1!
  • Tuesdays & Thursday 08.30-11.30
  • Available to health fund members. Self-funded options also available.

Reconditioning

Day program structure

  • One and a half to three hours of therapy (depending on tolerances) 
  • Exercise physiology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology, and hydrotherapy
  • One to two days per week over six weeks (program length can be varied based on your progress).
