Hydrotherapy

About Hydrotherapy

Our heated magnesium indoor hydrotherapy pool is an integral part of our rehabilitation program. Hydrotherapy provides buoyancy and assists with reducing pain, helps to strengthen muscles, increases movement and improves walking ability.

A magnesium pool offers a range of specific benefits due to the presence of magnesium, which is a mineral known for its various therapeutic properties. Here are the key benefits of a magnesium pool:

1. Muscle Relaxation and Recovery: Magnesium is well-known for its ability to relax muscles. When absorbed through the skin while swimming or soaking in a magnesium pool, it can help reduce muscle cramps, soreness, and tension. This makes it especially beneficial for athletes or individuals experiencing chronic muscle pain.

2. Improved Skin Health: Magnesium is thought to have skin-healing properties. Soaking in a magnesium pool can help improve skin hydration and reduce conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis. It can promote smoother, more supple skin by replenishing essential minerals.

3. Detoxification: Magnesium has detoxifying properties, and when absorbed through the skin, it may help flush out toxins from the body. The mineral can assist in boosting the body's natural detox processes, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

4. Stress Reduction and Relaxation: Magnesium is known for its calming effects on the nervous system. When used in a pool, it can help reduce stress and anxiety, promoting relaxation. The soothing effect of magnesium combined with warm water makes magnesium pools ideal for de-stressing and unwinding.

5. Improved Sleep Quality: Magnesium has been linked to improved sleep, as it plays a role in regulating neurotransmitters involved in sleep. Regular exposure to magnesium through swimming or soaking can help individuals who struggle with insomnia or sleep disturbances.

6. Anti-Inflammatory Properties: Magnesium is known to have anti-inflammatory effects, which can help reduce swelling and pain in the body. This can be particularly helpful for those suffering from conditions like arthritis or other inflammatory conditions.

7. Better Circulation: Magnesium supports proper blood circulation by helping to relax blood vessels. Soaking in a magnesium pool can assist in increasing blood flow, which helps to deliver oxygen and nutrients to tissues, promoting healing and overall cardiovascular health.

8. Bone Health: Magnesium is essential for bone health, as it helps with calcium absorption and contributes to maintaining bone density. Soaking in a magnesium pool can help improve the mineral balance in the body, which is important for maintaining strong bones.

9. Mood Enhancement: Magnesium plays a role in regulating mood. Soaking in a magnesium pool can help boost overall mood and well-being by promoting a sense of calm and reducing feelings of anxiety or irritability.

10. Hydration: The magnesium in the pool water can be absorbed by the skin, helping to hydrate and nourish it. This can be especially beneficial for individuals with dry skin or those seeking to improve their skin's overall appearance and texture.

By soaking in or swimming in a magnesium pool, individuals can enjoy these specific benefits, all of which contribute to better physical and mental well-being.
